Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has ordered the State Police to rearrest the suspected serial killer Sunday Shodipe who mysteriously disappeared from the police detention.
The 19 year old Sunday Shodipe was arrested and paraded in connection with killings of Barakat Bello, Azeezat Shomuyiwa, and a five-year old boy identified as Mujeeb along with two others on the 17th of July. He, however, escaped mysteriously from the police custody on Tuesday 11th of August in Ibadan, and this angered the Youths in Ibadan and had gotten them protesting, wielding placards and demanding Sunday’s rearrest. The protest, however, turned violent with the youths attacking security personnel at the command with stones and other dangerous objects.
Reacting, Governor Seyi Makinde, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Fatai Owoseni at a Town Hall meeting held at Akinyele LGA on Tuesday, gave marching orders to security operatives to ensure Sunday Shodipe’s re-arrest.According to Fataiu, Governor Makinde said the re-arrest of the alleged mastermind of about six ritual killings in Ibadan, must be made a top priority for security operatives. The State Police command has then placed a bounty of N500,000 on Sunday for anyone with useful information that could lead to his rearrest.
