The spate of kidnappings in the country has taken a twist with highbrow neighbourhoods being targeted especially the Lekki environs in Lagos State.
This was in consonance with an alarm raised by a Twitter user @eonsintelligenc, via a series of tweets on Wednesday, May 19.
According to the Twitter thread, “Kidnappers on the prowl on Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos State. Reports indicate several persons abducted at about 8 pm yesterday night by gunmen. There have been growing cases of abduction along Ozumba Mbadiwe, Falomo, and Admiralty way in recent time.
“While many were released after being disposed of their valuables & account emptied, some were not so lucky to make it back alive. One of the victims of yesternight’s abduction disclosed she was pressed to the floor of d vehicle & driven around Lekki for about three hours before finally released.”
The user further appealed to the Police to ensure the menace is redressed in order to allay the fears of Lagosians.
“After being dispossessed of her ATM cards, PIN and accounts emptied. Tale like hers is becoming a daily thing along that axis. These abductors use unpainted taxis and in some cases, tinted SUVs.
“Police, kindly expedite actions to stem this tide.”
