Music Review: #Beautiful! Laycon Serves Magic In Beats & Lyrics In ‘…Shall We Begin…’

Bbnaija star Laycon has finally dropped his long-anticipated debut album since leaving the bbnaija house titled, ...Shall We Begin… The uber-talented Nigerian rapper stood true to his words and blessed us with magic in lyrics and beats.The Big Brother Naija season 5 winner takes a bold step as he unveils his first studio album, just as he announced earlier this month. The new album consists of 12 impressive records, featuring the likes of Mayorkun, Joeboy, Teni, Terri, and YKB.
…And so She Spoke… from the way the title is written you would know that thought and effort was put into not just the lyrics, the beat, the instrumentation, the message, come on, Laycon killed it right here. The rich bass feel just feeds our eardrums and spirits with life and beauty.
The prayer from the lips of his mother spoken in Yoruba possesses the perfect title indeed she spoke and it was.
His mother heaps words of eulogy and prayer for goodwill on his path and we surely say amen to that. All we can say is deep!
God Body is a rap cupcake prepared to wet our appetite and we are super hungry for more. God body lyrics was right from the heart of Laycon and we are loving every feel of it.
The Mayor of Lagos is the perfect spice every album needs. On the track Verified, Laycon features Mayorkun and it is a banger.
From the banging beats and the unique resonating bouncing instrumentation, Verified is great. He sings, From Lagos Island, we take over the place…Put your lighters up if you know say you go represent…Shey you see we dey verified, confirmed.
All Over Me, draws its theme from love and relationship, Laycon touches various themes on this album and doesn’t stereotype himself to a particular cliche topic which is actually commendable.
Instead of having a rap god on this track, we have a singer who is here to create groovy vibe.
Wagwan is also on this album and hands down, as there are no questions why this is a hit single.
One great thing about Laycon is the fact that he doesn’t get his lyrics from the sky, his words and theme are relatable in a very unique way which is a big plus on his path.
Kele gives a mix of Joeboy magic with Laycon’s touch and it is a mix of pure bliss. These two talents give us magic.The direction of this track draws out the lover in that boy and girl, creating that unconscious movement where you don’t know when your head just starts to move to the beat because it calms you. Kele is a vibe and we love it.
This young rapper takes us down the trials of life and sheds light on the fact that life na jeje as he sings on the track, Jeje featuring Terri. The fact that he picks relatable slangs and inputs them into his lyrics makes this body of work more special.
Conny Sir makes us see the loverboy in him as he, unlike most loverboys who are always begging the ladies back, this Laycon definitely doesn’t want her back at all. He features Teni Makanaki on the track Want You Back and we have a love song on our hands right here.
Laycon takes things the other way round and it once again reinforces the fact that this rapper is here to bring in a new direction in the music industry.
Fall For Me featuring YBK takes the cap off in its synchronization and instrumentation. Another thing this bbnaija star got right is he definitely picked the right features on this body of work.
My Lane, Bam Bam is just beautiful, every word and every beat of it.
The same way he started with a grand opening, he took the same route ending this beautiful body of work in the track, …And So They Spoke…. Come on, all five stars are well deserved right here.

Laycon has proven that he knows what he is out to do and the hype, accolades gotten during and since leaving the bbnaija house is worth every bit. …Shall We Begin… is soaring for the sky because this body of work screams effort, dedication, time, and serious depth producing magic in beat and lyrics. Laycon deserves all the accolades possible on the album …Shall We Begin…
