 To protest being fired from the army, a former Ukrainian soldier was filmed setting himself on fire. The footage was broadcasted on Ukrainian television and showed Serhii Ulianov dousing himself in petrol before setting his army uniform alight. In no time, he was covered in flames as he protested outside the Ukrainian Defence Ministry headquarters in Kiev. Another soldier managed to pull Ulianov to the ground to pat out the flames and other militiary officials jumped in to cover the ex-soldier, spraying him with a fire extinguisher. 
 Reports in the country revealed that servicemen were made aware of Ulianov’s plans and had managed to restrain him from his attempted self-immolation all to no avail. Photo Credit: Getty
