Setup COVID-19 Vaccine Production Plant – Ben Ayade Tells FG

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers State has called on the Federal Government to set up a production plant in the nation for the manufacture of COVID-19 vaccines.

Calling on the FG and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to apply ecclesiastical caution on the importation of Covid-19 dose following it’s attendant challenges of storage facilities, Ben Ayade said that an immediate plant should be set where serums of recovered patients can be worked on with the support of relevant agencies and Professors in the relevant fields of study for local doses production and not importation.

He emphasised that, if as a country there is need to buy the dose, then Professors of virology in Nigeria should participate in the elucidation and validation processes or better still work on the serums of those who have recovered. Ayade added that National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC also has a duty to subject the vaccines to test by carrying out analysis of every singular component that is on the vaccine.
