Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has had shed light on what he thinks about Cristiano Ronaldo‘s move to Old Trafford after the Red Devils confirmed a deal to bring the five-time Ballon D’or winner back to the club had been agreed.

In what was a whirlwind 24 hours for Ronaldo and both Manchester clubs, it appeared that the Portuguese star was originally heading for a controversial move to United’s fierce rivals and ‘noisy neighbours’ Manchester City , before a sudden change of heart diverted him back into the path of his former side.

While pictures of Ronaldo boarding his private jet in Turin littered social media, at the time he took flight very few had any idea where his future lay.

By the time he touched down on Lisbon soil, all became clearer as it was announced by the club themselves that United had pulled off a stunning transfer coup to secure Ronaldo’s signature.

Mourinho, who has currently taken charge of just one Serie A game as Roma boss, claimed he is happy for every one involved in the deal to bring Ronaldo back to Manchester, including the player’s agent Jorge Mendes – who also represents Mourinho himself.

The former United boss revealed at his most recent press conference: “What I can say is basic, it’s logical. If Juventus are happy, if Ronaldo is happy and Manchester United are happy, then it’s a perfect deal.

“There is no need to talk about Ronaldo. He has written history for the last 20 years. I have nothing more to comment.”

Mourinho and Ronaldo know each other very well from their three years together at Real Madrid , though there have been question marks over how well the pair actually got on.

At times, agent Mendes has had to act somewhat of a peacemaker between the duo to try and bring them closer.

Mourinho has previously expressed how he found the five-time Champions League winner a difficult player to coach, once claiming: “Maybe he thinks he knows everything and the coach cannot help him develop further.”

Ronaldo has been a tad more complimentary, when asked about the idea of playing under the ex-Chelsea boss, he responded: “Work with Mourinho again? Why not?”

However, the hope of Ronaldo playing under the guidance of Mourinho once more seems to be fading given he joins United at the age of 36 .
