Meet Aminu Ado Bayero, The Mass Communication Graduate Who Became The New Emir of Kano

Following the dethronement of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, by the Kano State Government on Monday, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero was named the new Emir of the ancient city.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has succeeded Muhammad Sanusi II, as Emir of Kano.

On Monday, March 9, 2020, the Kano government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, dethroned Sanusi, and installed Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as his successor hours after.

Here are a few things to know about the new Emir of Kano:

  1. Aminu Ado Bayero was born in 1961. He is 59 years old.
  2. He is the son of a late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Dr. Ado Abdullahi Bayero.
  3. Until his appointment, he was the Emir of Bichi, one of the controversial new emirates created by Ganduje.
  4. He is the second Ado Bayero to become Emir of Kano
  5. The new Emir of Kano was born three years before his father ascended the throne.
  6. He attended Kofar Kudu Primary School in Kano Municipal, and thereafter Birnin Kudu Secondary School in present day Jigawa State.
  7. Bayero studied Mass Communication at Bayero University in Kano.
  8. He also studied at Aviation School, Oakland in California, USA.
  9. Bayero did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Makurdi in Benue.
  10. Following his installation, Bayero emerged as the 15th Emir of Kano in the ruling Fulani dynasty.
