An Instagram model has revealed how she rakes in £720,000 per year posting sexy snaps online.
Abigail Ratchford, from the US has earned millions as a model, explaining a large chunk of her income is from social media. The 27-year-old – who has an Instgram following of 9.1million – says she “fell into” the modelling industry, after some of her social media images went viral.
While the average woman earns £25,336 per year in the UK, Abigail makes a staggering £6,300 just for one sponsored post.
From beauty, to skincare, apps and lingerie, the model has contracts with Ignite as well as fast fashion brand Fashion Nova, explaining the deals go directly to her manager who “negotiates and locks in” a good price.
“Because of my following, I’m able to charge a certain amount if I endorse something, I have big contracts with Ignite and Fashion Nova per month,” she explains.
The model also earns a fortune off Escapex – an app where she provides fans with exclusive content. The model racked up an impressive following on social media after moving to Los Angeles in 2014 to further her career.
Abigail – originally from Pennsylvania, where she took part in the Miss Pennsylvania beauty pageant – has also worked with magazines such as Esquire and Maxim as well as appearing in Playboy.
Now, the model – who reportedly has a “closet just for freebies” – explains she tops up her income with an annual calendar. “When my calendar drops In October, I make close to six figures off that,” she said. Abigail says the secret to her success includes setting out goals and “connecting with the right people”.
“I have whiteboards everywhere in my house. I write out my goals for each month career wise, personal wise, things I want to work on within myself in order to grow and be the best version of myself I can be,” she revealed.
“Also, connect with the right people, be nice to everyone you work with, build solid working relationships, don’t listen to haters, it’s just white noise, cancel it out and have tunnel vision on your goals and dreams.”
But being an Instagram star can be high-maintenance, with the model revealing that she spends almost £2,000 per month on beauty products and services. According to the publication, she’s received CoolSculpting fat-reduction treatments on her arms and on the backs of her thighs; lip fillers and Botox in the corners of her eyes and on her forehead.
She also gets a weekly spray tan and has tape-in hair extensions. Speaking about her “monthly maintenance” costs, she said: “It’s not really ideal, but the main part of the job is to look a certain way.”
