Many Artistes Find It Hard To Handle Fame – Singer, Orezi Admits

Esegine Allen, the Nigerian singer who is better known as Orezi, has said many artistes find it hard to handle fame because of its intoxicating nature.

He said: “It is not only young artistes that cannot handle fame. It happens to a lot of old artistes as well. It takes a lot of maturity to handle fame because it is very intoxicating.”

Orezi also stated that losing his voice during a performance was his most embarrassing moment on stage.

He said, “My most embarrassing moment on stage was one of Olamide’s concerts at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. I was performing the song, Shuperu, and when I got to the high pitched part, the sound went off and I was left alone with my vocals. I lost my voice and I sounded really terrible. I got off stage feeling really bad but luckily for me, it seemed it was only a few people that noticed.”

The singer also said he was pleased at the reception his new song, Kiss Me, has enjoyed so far.

He said, “The reception has been awesome. I see that people have missed the dancehall side of Orezi. TikTok is already going ‘crazy’ because of the catchy hook of the song.”

On why it took him so long to release a new song, the afropop singer said, “It took this long because I wanted to redefine my sound. I wanted a sound that anyone can identify with me, and I have found it. This song is just one of the many to come.”

Asked what his major challenge is, Orezi said, “I cannot think of anything but finance. Aside from that, it is the regular fight for acceptance, and worrying about fans loving one’s song.”
