Fayemi Promises Not To Disappoint After Receiving Certificate Of Return From INEC

INEC issues certificate of return to Fayemi despite PDP’s threat to challenge the result of the 2018 Ekiti election in court.

The Ekiti State Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi, and deputy governor-elect, Bisi Egbeyemi, on Wednesday, received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission. The National Commissioner in charge of Oyo, Ekiti and Osun states, Prince Adedeji Soyebi, presented the certificate to him at a ceremony held at the state’s INEC office in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Fayemi who is the immediate past Minister of Steel and Mines Development praised INEC and also promised not to disappoint the people of the state while speaking after receiving the certificate. “For INEC, the work has just ended and for us, the work has just started. We have a responsibility not to disappoint our people,” he said.

“We have a duty of responsibility not to disappoint the people for keeping faith with us. Ekiti people will see the benefit of good governance by the grace of God as from October 16.”

Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress won the Saturday’s governorship election by defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate. Kolapo Olusola, ADP’s Segun Adewale and 32 other candidates to win the state, having polled 197,459 votes while Olusola gathered 178,121.
