Coronavirus: Lesotho Records 1st Case

Lesotho has announced that it has recorded its first case of coronavirus, making it the last African country to record a case of the virus.

Coronavirus COVID-19Lesotho’s Ministry of Health said on Wednesday May 13, that 81 COVID-19 tests conducted on May 9 on travellers from South Africa and Saudi Arabia came back with a positive case.

“On 9 May 2020, the Ministry [of Health] conducted 81 tests for Covid-19 from travellers from South Africa and Saudi Arabia. Read more: Travel: 5 Interesting Places To Visit When In Lesotho

“On 11 May 2020 the samples were shipped to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in South Africa and results were obtained on 12 May 2020. Eighty people tested negative for Covid-19 while one tested positive.”
