Today, we will be looking at 10 must-try beauty hacks and tips you must try out during this period to help you stay fit and beautiful till the end.Beauty: 10 Must-Try Hacks And Tips During This Period1. Give your hair rest and nourishment: If you usually use heat tools on your hair regularly, you need to give them a rest. Not only will this help reduce heat damage and make it easier to restore moisture, it helps you stay more comfortable rocking your hair in its natural texture. Try this deep conditioning hack to give your hair a refreshing nourishment. Blend 1 large overripe banana (sliced), 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 2 tbsp pure vegetable glycerin and 2 tbsp pure honey all in a blender thoroughly making sure no lumps or banana bits remain. (Depending on your blender quality, you may or may not have to then sieve the mixture. Apply to hair and let sit for 30–45 minutes under a shower cap. Detangle, rinse thoroughly, and style as usual.
2. Vegetable Oil Hair Conditioner: another home-made conditioner you can seize the lockdown period to nourish your hair with post shampooing are culinary oils. Use vegetable, olive or coconut cooking oil to condition your hair. Then, wrap your hair up with a warm damp towel and leave it that way for 10-15 minutes. Wash your hair with lukewarm water after. Once your hair dries, your hair will start to look shiny and feel silky smooth to touch.Beauty: 10 Must-Try Hacks And Tips During This Period
3. Home manicure: remove old polish from your hands and file your nails. Apply a thin layer of clear base coat to make your nails shiny and cool. You may choose to add colour though, at least, let your nails feel some relief and finesse.
4. Nourish your skin for glow: don’t give up on face masks, and at this point,  nourish your face with non-greasy moisture, half a mashed avocado with a teaspoon of honey works fine (slather on and leave for 15 minutes before removing with a wet flannel). Adding a tablespoon of fresh plain yoghurt can impart an extra glow. Some other masks to try out will be dished out below:
5. Lemon for the nails: If you got your nails stained with turmeric, food colouring  and dye, don’t worry, all you need is a lemon! Lemons have bleaching properties in them that help to remove stains and odour from cooking meat like a pro. Simply take a lemon and cut it into half and rub it all over your nails. Leave the juice on for 15 minutes and rinse off later with cool water. Don’t forget to moisturise your hands after you do this!
6. Vamp up occasionally: truly, many are not bothering about hairstyling and makeup and all at this time but vamping up once a while is not a bad idea. A good idea is a dress up Friday where you upscale your natural face and loose hair to a well beat face and nicely packed ponytail once a week, with a lovely ensemble like you are going on a first date. I mean, this will lift the spirit and give a new turn to your beauty for the period of staying home. Call it quarantine makeover, we say yes please!
7. Fabric softener for your hair: In one of our articles on synthetic wig maintenance, we mentioned the use of fabric softener to keep the hair on fleek. So, in the spirit of boredom, you hair may be freaking out, tired, weak and so thick. Instead of DIYs made from natural ingredients and commercial products, reach out to your fabric softener and pour some on your hair and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Wash off with shampoo and skip the conditioner. You’ll be amazed at how silky and shiny your hair will look
8. Cooking spray to set your nail polish: Giving yourself a home manicure as stated in 6 above is so interesting until you have to wait ages for the polish to dry and you can’t do anything with your hands. Don’t you just hate waiting, well your cooking spray can be of help! Spray it on your nails so that your manicure dries up quickly! Not only that, it also moisturises your cuticles so you see it is a double blessing for your nails.
9. Keeping the brows in shape: many KOKOnistas love the touch of a professional in carving and shaping their brows but now that the lockdown is a show-stopper, we have to devise other means quickly. Your eye pencil is a great tool to define the shape of your brow. Simply place the pencil at the edge of your nose and where it hits your eyebrow is where they should be. Then swivel it from your nose to your iris – this is where the arch should be positioned. Finally swivel again from your nose to the end of your eye and where the pencil hits the brow is where they end. First you need to pluck the stray hairs first before tackling the shape. So, brush the brows up and across to determine the core brow shape hair to remove. Just pluck one or two hairs at a time, step away and view your brows before you continue – step by step is key. You may also need to trim the longer brow hairs with nail scissors, so brush up with a brow brush and snip any hairs poking above the brow line.
10. Makeup bag management. When’s the last time you cleaned your brushes KOKOnistas, washed the make up purse and set everything neatly? Well, this time is a kinda blessing in disguise so use it judiciously. Professionals use ethanol to wash brushes, but what happens when you don’t have that. Simply shampoo and condition the brushes, massage and squeeze the base to loosen old colour. Rinse well, tweak into shape and air-dry upright in a glass. Clean your bag, tubes and nozzles with antiseptic wipes and feel virtuous.
Other masks to try:
Baking Soda Body scrub: If you have acne-prone and oily skin, you need this! Baking soda is an excellent exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores loaded with sebum, dirt and bacteria from the skin. To prepare, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 3 tablespoons of water in a bowl and stir well to make it into a thick paste. Apply it to your skin in a circular motion, using your fingertips to massage the paste all over your face. Rinse with cold water once done and apply moisturiser.
Homemade Wax:  Melt 1 cup granulated white sugar in a pot over medium heat. Once the sugar has caramelised, add 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1/4 cup of honey and mix well. Use a spatula to apply the wax. If you don’t have proper wax strips at home, you can cut long jeans strips instead.
Brightening Face Pack: Add a tablespoon of sugar to mashed cucumber slices and refrigerate the mix for some time. Once it’s cool, apply the paste on your face, massaging in circular motion. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse off.
Eye serum for dark circles: take a glass jar, add 1 tablespoon of coffee powder and 6 tablespoons of almond oil. Close the jar and leave it a cool and dry place for a week. After a while, strain the mix and add 1 tablespoon of castor oil it. Stir well and apply under your eyes once in the morning(if you’re at home) and once at night to brighten up the area.
