Angry Wife Gatecrashes Husband’s Secret Wedding…And She Brought The Children Along

A furious woman stormed into a church with her children to demand a wedding ceremony be stopped – because the groom was her husband.

Groom Abraham Muyunda allegedly told his wife earlier in the day he was going of town for work, but actually was going to attend his own wedding.

The drama happened at a Catholic church in Chainda in the Zambian capital of Lusaka, according to reports.

Mr Muyunda’s alleged wife, named locally as Caroline Mubita, apparently heard about the wedding from neighbours and rushed to the church to put a stop to the proceedings.

She is heard saying in the footage: ‘Father, this wedding cannot go on. This man right here is my husband. I don’t know what is happening here.’

The distressed wife, who appears to have a baby strapped to her back, is seen being manhandled by a guest before heading to the altar to protest directly to the priest.

The groom is filmed holding his face in his hands as everything in front of him unravels.
‘This man here is my husband,’ adds the wife, ‘We have not divorced or quarrelled.’

The footage cuts out before the argument is resolved.

Local media reports Mr Muyunda works for the Zambia Revenue Authority and has three children.

The reports also say he has been handed over to the local police while the family decides on the next course of action.

According to the UN, Zambia has two different marriage systems, one based on customary law and the other on modern statute law.

The second type does not allow for polygamy, and anyone who tries to get married under statute law when they already have a husband or wife is liable to prosecution.

If charged with and convicted of bigamy, Mr Muyunda could face up to seven years in jail under Zambian laws.

His new bride reportedly knew that he was already married and paid for the ceremony.
