Nigerian Chief Nursing official, Roseline Oladimeji, has reiterated the common advise that women should allow their husbands should suck their breasts and this time, she specified allowing this during pregnancy.
Roseline Oladimeji said this in Lagos on Thursday, at a sensitisation programme marking the 2021 World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) organised by the Amuwo Odofin Maternal and Child Centre (AOMCC), Festac Town.
While the common advise is aimed at preventing cancer, the nursing official stated that allowing husbands suck during pregnancy helps to prepare pregnant mother for feeding the baby after delivery. Aside this, the health care giver further advised that pregnant women rub vaseline on their nipples at night before they go to sleep.

“Allow your husbands to suck your breasts during pregnancy. Apart from bonding, it will help the nipples to be out and make it easier for your baby to latch on. You can also rub vaseline on your nipples at night before going to sleep. It also helps to soften the breasts”, she said.
