World Breastfeeding Week: Simi Shares Experience Extensively

I Will Be Anxious If Deja Decides To Do Music - Simi
The 1st through the 5th day of August is internationally dedicated to celebrate an integral part of motherhood – breastfeeding – with the World Breastfeeding Week initiative, and to celebrate in her own way, Nigerian songbird, songwriter, producer and mum of one Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi has shared her experience.

Since the birth of her child, Adejare Kosoko, Simi has been so vocal about motherhood, not minding the stereotypical demands that mothers should go through whatever they go through in motherhood with gratitude. While she is grateful, Simi would not lie about how uneasy it is balancing work with a baby.World Breastfeeding Week: Simi Speaks Extensively, Shares With Other WomenTaking to her Instagram story, first to celebrate breastfeeding mothers, Simi revealed that feeding her child from her mammary glands is one of the most spiritual things she’s ever done. “#worldbreastfeedingweek Well done to all the breastfeeding moms. One of the most incredible and spiritual things I’ve ever done. Well done to all the mums that tried and tried but it was too hard (for some, impossible). Well done to all the moms that nourish their babies with formula …because fed is best. Well done to all the great mothers – period”, she wrote.

She then went ahead to hare her experience, rub minds with and give tips to mothers in a Question and Answer session. Simi’s fans apparently understand her mood as she hosted the QnA as majority of the questions centred about motherhood, breastfeeding and family. In one of the questions, she was asked to share her breastfeeding experience. Replying, she revealed she was first committed to exclusive breastfeeding and it was tough at first. “Well at first, I committed to EBF (exclusive breastfeeding) for 3 months and I was like I’ll see what happens after that”, she began.

“It was really tough the first couple of weeks because my milk didn’t come in the fiest few days and she wasn’t latching great. Actually had to supplement with formula the 2nd and 3rd day, and I hated that so much. But I’m too stubborn to give up when I really want something. Lol. So when we got home feom the hospital, I started to pump aggressively when she wasn’t on the boob to boost my supply. I remember I hd chills and a fever one day (my mom said it was normal)”.

“Eventually we found our rhythm and it’s been great. After 3 months, it just felt natural to keep going and I did. It’s great for bonding and also great for her body and growth. I know I’m privileged to be my own boss so I could do it on my own terms. Pumping was a headache cos she never liked the bottle. Her dad tried to give her from the bottle but my milk was just wasting (what nonsense lt), so I just stopped pumping. We’re still nursing now and I’m grateful that I’ve been able to”, she added.
