Zimbabwe To Legalise Massive Export Of Recreational Cannabis

Zimbabwe’s government has announced that it will improve its laws to allow industrial production and export of cannabis in a desperate effort to boost its foreign currency earnings.

The country’s Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa made this known, stating that the country is looking to make the export an alternative to complement tobacco, the country’s biggest export after mining.Zimbabwe To Legalise Massive Export Of Recreational Cannabis

The crop can be a good substitute to the leading export crop tobacco, which is currently facing possibilities of being banned internationally due to its adverse effects on health,” she said. She further added that the focus will be on hemp, which comes from the same plant household as Marijuana, but has almost none of the psychoactive substances found in Marijuana.

Prior to this, Zimbabwe which was considered the poorest country in the world hitherto has a drastic foreign currency deficit. This has led to import deficits for items like fuel and medicine.
