The Federal Government has apologised for begging South African-American engineer Elon Musk for ventilators of Twitter.
Elon Musk has taken to the streets of Twitter to announce that he has extra FDA-approved ventilators that he is willing to ship to hospitals worldwide for free. Many countries jumped on his tweet to ask for support and in like manner, Nigeria’s Finance Ministry, via its official handle responded, begging Elon to send about 100-500 ventilators to Nigeria.We Regret Begging For Ventilator Publicly - FG
Dear @elonmusk @Tesla Federal Government of Nigeria needs support with 100-500 ventilators to assist with #Covid19 cases arising every day in Nigeria“, the tweet reads. This stirred up controversy among Nigerian tweeps, many lashing the FG for its inability to provide its own needs and prefers begging for them.
The reactions seem to get to the Ministry badly and it instantly forwarded an apology in a statement, saying the action is regrettable.

Finance Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Yunusa Abdullahi, noted in the statement that the post is regrettable and unauthorised. “An unauthorised post was made on the verified Twitter handle of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning. The fact of the post is regrettable because of which it is brought down. We have made sure our internal processes are strengthened that such doesn’t happen again. The error is highly regrettable“, part of the statement reads.
