Vladimir Putin Signs New Law That Would Keep Him In Power For 16 More Years

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into Law in Russia a constitutional change that would allow him to stay in power for another 16years, which could total his entire time in power to 36 years. Prime Minister Medvedev And Vladimir Putin

Just a week back the Russian president Vladimir Putin appeared in front of the parliament in Russia to defend the new amendment would allow him to ignore the constitutional limitations placed on him being able to run again in 2024. There’s being press release by the Kremlin that revealed that Putin had signed off the constitutional changes on Saturday, 3 days after the bill was passed by the Russian parliament with only just one vote against it.

The constitutional changes would assent into law after a nationwide vote to either on the amendments, which is set to hold on April 22. If these new changes are approved Putin will be able to run again in for another 2 more tenures of 8-years each including the next election in 2024. If approved, the move would make Putin the ruler of Russia for 36 years, the longest tenure in the country’s modern history. He has been in power since 2000. Photo Credit: Getty
