The University Of Ibadan International School Closed Because Of This Reason

The University of Ibadan International School was Shut Down by the management after  Students appeared wearing hijab, which is against the school’s prescribed dress code. It was reported by the Punch that the secondary school was closed so as to avoid any religious crisis that could stem from the incident. Some of the parents under the ‘International School Muslim Forum’ had informed the School management by a letter which was received on November 9, informing them about their agreement to allow their female children commence the wearing of hijab to school starting from the academic session of 2018/2019.“Hijab-wearing for young Muslim girls, apart from the fact that it is part of their religious belief, is part of their God-given fundamental human right as well as the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter signed by the chairman Abdurrhaman Balogun and the secretary of the group Bilikis Badiru reads. In reacting to this development, the deputy vice-chancellor academics of the institution described the parents conduct as a jungle approach, he said the school has a dress code which all parents agreed to. Even the Parents Teacher Association is not aware of the idea by this group. Indeed, some other Muslim parents expressed shock when they heard about this forum, Since its establishment in 1963, the school has not experienced any religious crisis and we want to guide against it” Aderinto said. Balogun who spoke for the International School Muslim parents’ Forum said the female students wore hijab to school in line with their constitutional rights, he said the forum will continue to push for their agitation until their daughters are allowed to wear hijab. Photo Credit: Getty
