Nigeria has been blessed with some extraordinary, gifted and extremely talented music groups which would evergreen in our memories. But the truth is that since these groups split the Nigerian music scene misses them and the flavour they bring on to our ears.TBT-10 Nigerian Music Groups That We Miss

The list of the Music groups includes some of the most prominent Nigerian contemporary music groups, and the groups put on this list does not include breakups of record labels and bands e.g Mohits, Trybez record, Alapomeji and Coded Tunes, neither does it includes producers and artiste break up.

  1. Styl_Plus: The Styl_Plus includes Shifi Emoefe, Zeal, Tunde, they were responsible for some of Nigeria’s biggest love songs the music industry had to offer in the last decades, they gave us Olufunmi, Runaway, Iya Basira, Imagine Dat and 4 years Don Waka We Still They Carry go. The group went there separate ways to pursue there own solo careers.
  2. Plantashun Boiz: The Plantashun Boys emerged as One of the forerunners of RnB in the Nigerian Music industry. After two successful albums. (Body and Soul) and (Sold Out). the group consisting of 2face. Faze and BlackFace decided to call it a quit as the artistes pursued their solo career.
  3. Trybesmen: The Trybesmen included Eldee, Kaboom, Freestyle they gave us hits like Shake body, Tryba Marks before Eldee left for the United State and later came back to launch his own Solo Career.
  4. P-Square: This probably one of the biggest and dirtiest music group break-ups. We miss them the Afro-pop and Highlife twin serve us some of the greatest hits of all-time from Busy Body, Senorita, Ifunaya, to their last song together in Bank Alert.
  5. Remedies: With hit songs like Shakomo and Omoge, The remedies Consisting of Tony Tetuila, Eedris Abdulkareem and Eddie Remedy were Quite Famous in the 90s and even had a deal with Kennis music. The Group Fell apart due to irreconcilable differences.
  6. Zule-Zoo: This is another duo that dominated the music scene in the early 2000s, the boys from Benue, Micheal Aboh and Al-Hassan Ibrahim who came into limelight after the success of their smash hit, ‘Kerewa’, they quickly followed it up with “Necessary”, this group slipped off the radar around 2006 after it was claimed that one of the duo was suffering from a mental illness.
  7. Maintain: Aka The Boys from Ibadan, Olu maintain, Tolu and Big Bammo ruled the Nigerian music scene with hit Singles like I Catch Cold and Nibo la wa gbe lo “.The Group split in 2005 with Olu maintain Going on to release Yahooze and Big Bammo released ” Fi jo ko wo je”
    and Popotiti.
  8. Lagbaja And Ego: Though we can’t really say a Musical group per se but worked like one. After hit Singles such as Konko Below, Na Do Na Do, Never Far away. Nothing for you.,The Duo decided to call it Quit and Pursue individual careers.
  9. Infinity: Infinity group consisting Akinbode Kehinde ( Kenny Kore) NNogo Samson, Okougbo Joseph, Sunny Steve and David Thomas Adebiyi brought us the Mega hits Olori Oko and Aye Ole. The Group did not last for long as Kenny Kore went ahead to launch a successful solo career.
  10. Artquake: This group gave the biggest song of 2009, in Alanta, they also gave us other hits at height of their music career the group included ADEX and Ice-K. Photo Credit: Getty
