Stormzy

Stormzy born Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo, poured out his heartfelt appreciation via words to his fans fr their support since his debut album ‘GANG SIGNS & PRAYER’ went platinum.

He wrote;

”It’s been exactly 1 year since I released my debut, platinum-selling (I’ve always wanted to say that

) album. There aren’t enough characters for me to describe how much work, care and soul went into making this. When I speak about the album journey I get emotional, I bared my whole soul in the process and left my entire being on that record and now here we are.

Love to all the producers who made it what it was, the artists who came through with their magic and of course Fraser T Smith. I’ve never been so proud of something in my life, whatever this album means to you I hope you continue to enjoy it for many years to come. ‘GANG SIGNS & PRAYER’

#GSAPForever.”

This heartfelt post is coming just after the rapper tweeted a request of support to his followers to “sign, share, RT and spread the word” for a petition, asking Theresa May to take action to build trust in the Grenfell Tower inquiry.

Following Stormzy’s tweet, 100,000 signatures was realised and the tweet retweeted over 10,000 times.
Speaking on his album during an interview, the rapper said;

“I needed to make an album that represented me, which was always going to be a struggle,” he explained in a phone call to The FADER. “I wanted to touch on the gospel side of things, and my faith, because that’s so integral to my character. And the other side of my life — growing up in the streets, doing the things I’ve done with the people I was with, that is also a very integral part of me. I’m not a one-dimensional character.”
