18-year-old, Final year secondary school student, Efua Asantewaa met her untimely death as she burnt in agony while praying at the church for the success of her participation in the ongoing WASSCE. The General Art student of the Mozano Senior High School in the Central Region Portia, Dokor in Ghana was reportedly taken to church by her mother for prayers to aid her pass her exams successfully but the whole situation turned out to bring the young girl’s untimely exit from the world.
The Prophetess and Leader of the African Faith Church at Breman Bedum whose church the girl’s mother had visited, poured oil on the young girl during the church service. The 45-year-old Prophetess, Efua Agama also reportedly lit a candle, handed over the candle to the girl and instructed her to hold the candle as part of the fortification process which would help her pass her WASSCE. During this fortification process, the Efua’s dress caught fire causing her severe injuries that led to her death.
As a result of the delay in quenching the fire, Efua Asantewaa was sent to the Breman Asikuma hospital. She was referred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where she passed on. The Police Command in Ghana has since arrested the Prophetess and she would be prosecuted to court on Monday for a provisional charge of murder.
