A Nigerian tweep has recalled how he had recommended Nollywood actress and brand ambassador Kate Henshaw to Royco, a bouillon cubes brand Royco simply because she is a divorcee.
@Ufomma said this in response to Osi Suave’s call for a Nigerian mentality of judging people’s abilities by their life situations to be stopped. An architect had shared his story of how he was rejected for a contract simply because his car ‘doesn’t look like that of someone who can handle a 180m Naira project’.
“This is a Nigerian mentality that needs to die. The best people i have worked with are often the ones we took a chance on Cos I wonder what having a sleek car has to do with your ability to deliver”, Osi quoted the tweet. Replying Osi, Ufomma tweeted, “We often bring our biases into our daily life issues. One time I had recommended Kate Henshaw for a project with Royco but the Brand Manager said she couldn’t work with a divorcee. Her decision had nothing to do with Kate ability to deliver or not, just sentiments”, he replied.
