Presidency’s Hometown And Nine Others To Get A New Higher Institution

The Nigerian Senate has on Wednesday, November 28, approved the establishment of ten new higher institutions across the country. The resolution which was passed and approved was drawn up after the Federal lawmakers adopted the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund.The chairman of the committee, Jibrin Barau, afterwards brought up the report for senate consideration. The lawmakers consented to this as they thought that the establishment of these institutions would help to fight the cankerworm of illiteracy in the Nation. One of the ten higher institution to be established is to be located in the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari, Daura in Katsina State. The Senate also reiterated that the approval of the establishment of the institutions was in line with the policy to establish polytechnics across the states. The approved institutions are: Federal Polytechnic, Kabo; Federal Polytechnic Daura; Federal University of Education, Aguleri; National Institute of Construction Technology and Management and Federal Polytechnic, Ikom; Federal College of Education(Technical) Arochukwu, Abia State; Federal Polytechnic Langtang, Plateau State; Federal College of Education, Usugbenu-Irua; Federal University of Technology, Manchok and Federal Polytechnic Kwale, Delta State.Photo Credit: Getty
