Presidency Is No Job For A Woman – Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte

Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has submitted that presidency is not a job for a woman, that their emotional setup is different from that of a man.

The leader who is notoriously known for comments often deemed offensive, sexist and misogynistic, has said women can’t be president because of their emotional differences to men, and dismissed speculations that his daughter would succeed him next year.
At the launch of a highway project on Thursday, the president has made it clear that his daughter will not be running for presidency because he pities her, knowing what she would have to go through when she becomes the president.

“My daughter is not running. I have told Inday not to run because I pity (her) knowing she will have to go through what I am going through.” Rodrigo Duterte said referring to his daughter Sara by her nickname.
He further said, “This is not for women. You know, the emotional setup of a woman and a man is totally different. You will become a fool here. So… that is the sad story.”
However, the Philippines has had two female presidents, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Corazon Aquino.

Daughter of the president, Sara Duterte-Carpio, 42, who succeeded him as mayor of Davao City, responded to Duterte’s remarks.
“I am not being coy nor am I doing a ‘last-minute…If the whole country does not want to believe (this) then I can’t do anything about it. Not everyone wants to be president. I am one of them.”
