Popular Bollywood actor, Salman Khan has been sentenced to serve five years in prison on Thursday, after being convicted of illegal poaching.
However, Bhawani Singh, a public prosecutor working on the case, told newsmen that Salman Khan can appeal the decision in a higher court.
Salaman is one of India’s most popular actors. The court found him guilty of killing two blackbucks, (a specie of antelope found in the country), while working on a film in the Northern Indian state of Rajasthan in the 1998. He was fined 10,000 Indian rupees for the same act.
Prosecutors claimed that Khan shot the two blackbucks while out driving with some of his friends. He pleaded not guilty severally in the decade-long case.
