Pogba Is Inconsistent And There’s A ‘Lack of Leaders’ At Manchester United – Paul Scholes

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has ripped into Paul Pogba and claimed there is a ‘lack of leaders’ at Manchester United following their dismal 3-2 loss at Brighton.Jose Mourinho‘s men suffered defeat in their first away game of the season as goals from Glenn Murray, Shane Duffy and Pascal Gross did the damage on Sunday. Scholes, who represented United for almost 20 years, was critical of United’s display on the south coast, but reserved much of the blame for Pogba. The Frenchman was named captain for the second game running in the absence of Antonio Valencia, but failed to impress despite scoring a late consolation from the penalty spot. ‘There’s a lack of leaders in the team,’ Scholes said. ‘We thought Paul Pogba might be the ideal candidate to be that leader but he wasn’t there today. He had another really poor game. He’s so inconsistent. Pogba’s playing the ball out of play, he’s overhitting passes, he’s hitting passes short, he’s getting caught in possession.’Scholes, who won 11 Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford, also took aim at United’s attacking play and their failure to get Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial involved in the game. ‘You have to get the ball to the players who can beat a man, who can win games for you,’ he added. ‘[Romelu] Lukaku can do it. [Anthony] Martial can do it. Martial, in the first half, got one ball on the left-hand side in the first half and he absolutely flew past the right back. I can’t remember another time when they got the ball to him.’Photo Credit: Getty
