#Partygate: UK Prime Minister’s Wife, Carrie Johnson To Be Issued With Fine Over Covid Lockdown Parties In Downing Street

Carrie Johnson, the Prime Minister’s wife, is to be fined over Covid lockdown parties in Downing street, the Telegraph can reveal.

A spokeswoman for Ms Johnson said that she had been told she would receive a fixed penalty notice.

The statement came after No.10 said Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak are also to be fined over ‘partygate’.

The spokeswoman for the Prime Minister’s wife said: “In the interests of transparency, Mrs Johnson can confirm she has been notified that she will receive a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN). She has not yet received any further details about the nature of the FPN.”

Ms Johnson has been linked to two events as part of ‘partygate’. One, on the night of November 13, 2020, has been described as a “victory party” held by her friends after the Prime Minister’s top aide Dominic Cummings quit the Government.

The second, on June 19 2020, was a 56th “birthday party” for Mr Johnson held in the Cabinet room in Downing Street despite social gatherings indoors being banned.

Earlier a No.10 spokeswoman said: “The Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer have today received notification that the Metropolitan Police intend to issue them with fixed penalty notices. We have no further details, but we will update you again when we do.”Boris Johnson
