One Dead, Another Injured As Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Two In Kwara

A hit-and-run driver has killed an unidentified middle-aged man while another man was seriously injured in an accident which occurred along Ilorin-Jebba Expressway in Kwara State.

The incident, it was learnt, occured on Sunday, around Olooru/Okoolowo axis of the expressway, before Shao junction in Moro Local Government of the state.

The two men were standing beside the road when the vehicle veered off the road and hit them. While one of the two men died instantly, the other man was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kwara State, Mr Ade Ogidan, confirmed the incident during a telephone chat with our correspondent on Monday.

According to him, “Two people (male) were hit during the incident but one of them died while the other sustained bruises and fractures.

“The FRSC team later took both the injured victim and the corpse to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Oke-Oyi, Ilorin.”

Ogidan, who only described the vehicle as a “red coloured private boxer,” implored drivers to desist from excessive speeding and reckless driving.
