Not Again! Another High School Shooting In America Leaves A 17-Year-Old Student Dead

While the dust is yet to settle on the Ash Wednesday shooting in Florida, a 17-year-old girl, Courtlin Arrington was shot dead by a 17-year-old boy in her school, Huffman High School, Birmingham, Alabama, on Wednesday afternoon, in an incident described by the police as an accidental discharge. The teenage boy allegedly killed Courtlin before shooting himself in the leg.The district Interim Police Chief, Orlando Wilson said policemen are still trying to determine the specific circumstances of the shooting. Adding that they had begun seeking out witnesses and school surveillance video.
He said: “At this particular time, we are considering this accidental. Right now we have a lot of unanswered questions.”The shooting forced the authorities to place the school on a brief lock-down. Students were later released and management said they have concluded that the shooting was not perpetrated by “someone from the outside”. They however, decided to protect the name and privacy of the killer.
As at the time of this report, no arrest has been made on the case, and the killer has been released from the hospital.
