Nigerians Do Not Have Very Good Reasons To Be Disappointed With FG Over ASUU Strike – Minister of Education

The Federal Government has said Nigerians have no reason to be disappointed with government over the ongoing strike action by university lecturers.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu said this on Wednesday.

The Minister insisted that the government had done its best for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) since the strike commenced in February this year.

According to him, the union was expected to shift ground for the benefits of the students and the entire country, saying no demand can be met hundred percent.

ASUUHe said, “If Nigerians are disappointed, I think they don’t have very good reasons to be disappointed with the government on this,” he said.

“Why should they be disappointed? Just tell me in your opinion, how is it the fault of the government and not that of the union?

“You can only blame the Federal Government if it refuses to do what it is supposed to do – make the offer to satisfy their demands. There is no demand that can be satisfied 100 percent by any government,” he said.

You can recall that students of public universities have been at home for at least seven months as the union has vowed to continue the strike until all their demands are met.
