Travel: Ngwo Pine Forest, Cave & Waterfall Is A Triple Treat You Deserve

Far away in the South Eastern region of Nigeria is the beautiful city of Enugu popularly called ‘The Coal City’. It is well known for its rambling hills and its tropical savannah climate. One the things it is less known for though, is the Ngwo Pine Forest, Waterfall and Cave but lack of popularity does not detract from how beautiful this natural site is. Just like anything worth the effort, a lot of patience is required for the long trek one needs to make over slopes, stone-paved tracks and of course navigational skills between rows upon rows of trees. Nature has careful created a fusion between the pines, cave and waterfall such that at long last when you make it through the trees, the cave welcomes you with the loud splashing of water at your arrival. The fall forms a shallow pool on the floor of the cave which then flows out as a small stream.
The Ngwo Cave has been naturally sculpted in limestone rocks and the enchanting waterfall which bedecks it drops from a small opening at the roof of the cave. Just behind the big mass of rock in which the cave can be found, we find more caves carefully tucked into the rock, some within reach and others needing a good climb to access.
The water fall also has warm and hot water that comes out together from one source. It is not advisable you visit Ngwo Pine Forest on your own not just for security reasons but also because you are guaranteed much more fun when you visit with a group of friends or family members. You can play games, throw a party or just simply lie down beneath the trees with the branches forming a canopy over you.
