2018 World Cup: “Critics Can Only Make Me Better” – Ogenyi Onazi

Many Nigerians were of the opinion that Ogenyi Onazi shouldn’t have made Gernot Rohr’s 23-man World Cup squad following his poor performance on Saturday.

Onazi wasn’t at his best during the Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to England at the Wembley Stadium on June 2. “Saturday’s outing was disappointing from me and I know it was not the best from me due to reasons I could not lay my hands on but it is a process one has to pass through to get better, a lot of critics and lots of blames yes I know but it can only come once in a while,” Onazi wrote on his Instagram page.

The 25-year-old Nigerian footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Turkish club Trabzonspor, added:  “Critics can only make me better I can’t run away from it but to learn and get better. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the super eagles ? preparation for the World Cup is still on to get us in sharp.” The Nigerian national team and coach Gernot Rohr have arrived Avita Resort Base camp in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, Austria for the 2018 FIFA World Cup preparations. Super Eagles will play Czech Republic in Vienna on Wednesday June 6 in their final warm-up match. Nigeria will face Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in Group D of the World Cup.
