LASTMA Officer Dies After Being Knocked Down By Lagos Driver

The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency LASTMA has lost one of its officials, Samson Akinmade, who was knocked down by a motorist in the State on Wednesday.
Confirming the death in a series of tweets via the State’s official Twitter handle, General Manager of the agency, Engr. Olajide Oduyoye, expressed the sympathy of colleagues at the Ministry of Transportation and LASTMA to the entire family of the deceased, assuring that the Government will ensure that offender is prosecuted.LASTMA officials
Giving details of the unfortunate incident, the LASTMA said the driver who rode of a blue-black Opel Space Bus had knocked Samson Akinmade down at Demurin Street junction inwards Mile 12 while he was directing yellow buses away from the junction choke point. As he approached the motorist to park away from the road to pick passengers, the driver assumed he would be apprehended for obstructing traffic.

As he made to speed off, he hit Samson Akinmade against the concrete culvert on the service lane and dragged him along for about seven metres, leaving him with head and body injuries. The officer was immediately rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), but could not make it alive and died around 1.00a.m this Thursday morning as a result of the severe injury sustained.LASTMA Officer, Samson Akinmade Dies After Being Knocked Down By Lagos Driver
