One of the things any bride gets anxious about as her big day draws near is how her makeup would turn out. Even with several trial sessions prior to the wedding day, there is always that giddy feeling as they await the final look. Fortunately, with the right makeup artiste, you need not worry if something will go wrong. To be on the safe side though, it doesn’t hurt if you know a thing or two about bridal makeup so you can be a part of the process form start to finish. As we all know black women are naturally beautiful and only need a little work to display their best features. Wedding days especially call for a demure and beautiful makeup look that shows the world exactly how lucky your husband-to-be is. An understanding of colours, skin-tone and products that suit your skin type will make your MUA’s magic all the more visible. Consider this a crash course in the basics of getting the right glam-look for your special day.
Do – Moisturise your skin before starting to apply makeup. If you have very dry skin, then try mixing a bit of moisturizer with foundation and then apply it, this will dramatically improve the results of your foundation. You definitely don’t want all your MUA’s hard-work on a dry skin.
Do – When buying foundation, swatch it on the inner side of your wrist or your jawline so you can find the right match.
Do – Use a good concealer to hide blemishes or dark circles.
Totally Do – Since glittery tear ducts are trending this year, try wearing them to make your eyes appear bigger and brighter for your big day. Your man will definitely not be able to look away.
Don’t select a foundation that is lighter than your skin tone.
Don’t pick blush that look ashy or pale on your skin. Lighter skin tones look pretty and most natural in dark bronzers, though apricot, rose, and soft pink also work well. Medium to dark skin tones look best with deep blush hues like dark rose, currant, and plum.

Don’t experiment on your wedding day, stick to something you have tried and you know has worked for you.
