Ken Saro-Wiwa’s Widow Maria Dies At 72

Maria the widow of popular Nigerian activist Ken Saro-Wiwa has passed away at the age of 72. The daughter of the late activist shared the sad news on social media via her Facebook page as she penned an emotional tribute to her late mother.

According to her daughter, Noo, her mother passed away on Sunday and she went on to celebrate her strength and power to carry on after their father’s painful passing 25 years ago. She shared that their mother had the strength of God to carry on became a trustee of Prisoners of Conscience, a human rights organization while holding down a job and helping her son Gian with his mental health.

Her daughter said she is grateful the late widow didn’t watch another child painfully pass away after she lost 2 sons in the past. She was born in 1949 and was a trained teacher.
