Kanye West’s Real Reason For Interrupting Taylor Swift at 2009 VMAs Will Shock You

Kanye West briefly spoke about Taylor Swift in his new podcast interview with Nick Cannon.

The 43-year-old entertainer revealed that God gives him information and if “God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row” as his reason for why he interrupted Taylor back at the 2009 MTV VMAs.

If you don’t know, while Taylor was giving her acceptance speech for Best Female Video for “You Belong to Me,” Kanye went on stage to interrupt and say Beyonce deserved the award for “Single Ladies.”

“Right now, God is giving me the information,” Kanye told Nick on Cannon’s Class. “If God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row. I would’ve been sitting in the back.”

He continued, “It wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous of an idea because I had never heard of this person [Taylor] before, and ‘Single Ladies’ is, like, one of the greatest videos of all time. And I was only drinking Hennessy because I didn’t want to go to the awards show because it was a set-up.”Photo Credit: Getty
