Juventus goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon likened Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo to Diego Maradona and Abedi Pele after the Portugal international scored a bicycle kick against Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Ronaldo achieved another European feat last night, as his brace in the Turin stadium eventually made him the first player to score in ten consecutive Champions League matches. The climax of the night was in the 64th minute when Carvajal delivered a cross to Ronaldo and the Portugal superstar sent a flying overhead kick past Buffon.
Speaking after the home defeat, Buffon said: “Ronaldo is an extraordinary champion. Together with Lionel Messi he is the only one that punctuates his team’s most important victories, and is to be compared to Maradona and Pele.”
