It’s World Diabetes Day!

The 14th of November is the day set aside primarily for the global awareness campaign that focuses on diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus consist of two types, Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes which typically appears in adolescence is a condition where the pancreas produces little or no insulin, symptoms include increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue and blurred vision.

Treatment for this include regular insulin, diet and exercise with the aim of maintaining normal blood sugar levels, regular monitoring is also required, Nigeria is reported to have over 100 thousand cases per year.
