The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, has said that his ministry received a bill of N81m just to cut the grass of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
He said his ministry couldn’t accept such an outrageous bill, because it will be detrimental to spend such an amount when it can be better invested, plus such funds aren’t even available for such spendings, without even considering the fact that such will lead to a massive outcry from Nigerians.
The Minister shared this in a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Sunday. He said his ministry rejected the bill.
He tweeted,
“The ministry was given a bill. The Ministry did not accept. It will be detrimental to spend such an amount. And it can be better invested.
“If we tell Nigerians we used N81m to cut grass, which is not even available, there will be an outcry.
“The funds are not really there for us and that is why we are partnering with private investors to bring back the key components of our infrastructure.”

The Fact:
“If we tell Nigerians we used N81m to cut grass, which is not even available, there will be an outcry. Spot the difference. This story is out of context. Misleading. A misrepresentation. The Ministry was given a bill. The Ministry did not accept. It will be detrimental to spend such an amount. And it can be better invested. That is what I said. This is not what they have reported. pic.twitter.com/k7PaA4HgBL
