Grammy 2019: Here Is Why Some A-List Celebrities Snubbed 2019 Grammy Awards

Grammy

Celebrities have been snubbing awards shows for years now, so no news there, however the reason why they do that is often a bone of contention. The 2019 grammy award show was held yesterday, February 10 and a host of A-list celebrities totally ignored the show like it didn’t exist. The Grammy of the past had lots of celebrities even without the awards or the nominations showing up to enjoy and celebrate the music award. Notable of who had ignored the show was Beyonce, Drake, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and others. What actually was surprising was Ariana Grande’s absence from the show as that was her first Grammy win. The God is a woman artist actually posted a beautiful blue gown on her Instagram, meaning she was not absent from the show for lack of what to wear, then why? That still remains a mystery, or not! Ariana shared on her Twitter page that she would be ignoring this year’s show following a disagreement she had with the organizers. She shared that: What however is clear is that Beyonce started snubbing the Grammys ever since her Lemonade Album was passed up for Adele’s 25. And although she was nominated alongside Jay-Z for the Everything is Love collaboration they had, Queen Bey still did not turn up for the show. After having won nearly a dozen of Grammy awards, American singer Rihanna also snubbed this year’s Grammy. Rihanna who has been busy promoting her make up line have been off the music making scene for three years since her ANTI album. It’s no surprise that Nicki Minaj also snubbed this year’s Grammy after her Queen’s album was passed over. More painful must have been her arch-rival, Cardi B winning the first solo female to win the best rap at the award show. Other notable artists who snubbed the award show was Ed-Sheeran whose mega-hit was passed over for the more high-profile prizes, Kelly Clarkson, Post Malone, Childish Gambino who though won four major awards he was nominated for and many more. Although it was earlier reported that Drake would not be attending the show, he, however, showed up last minute, but not before he threw jabs at the show. The artist was contacted to perform at the show to which he refused. While delivering his acceptance speech for his God’s plan award, Drake was quoted to have said that: “I want to take this opportunity while I’m up here to just talk to all the kids that are watching this that are aspiring to do music, all my peers that make music from their heart, that do things pure and tell the truth. I want to let you know we play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport. So it’s not the NBA where at the end of the year you’re holding a trophy because you made the right decisions and won the games. This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people that might not understand, you know, what a mixed-race kid from Canada has to say or a fly Spanish girl from New York or anybody else. The point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown. Look, look if there is people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending.” With Drake’s Jab and A-list celebrities choosing to watch the show from the comfort of their homes or probably pulling the plug off their electricity circuit to prevent them from watching the show, it is pertinent to ask, where did Grammy go wrong?
