Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said during an interview that he wouldn’t mind if the Federal Government through President Muhammadu Buhari could please support his administration with a sum of N15bn to help the state curb the spread of the deadly novel Coronavirus {COVID-19} in the State. Umar Ganduje Of kano State

Kano state as at the latest toll update from the NCDC has a confirmed 73 cases and third highest in the country within 5 to 6 days of the NCDC reporting of its first index case.

Umar Ganduje who has been fluctuating at imposing the lockdown order in Kano State, by calling of the lockdown and imposing it again within days and still calling it off seems to be in trouble and has lead Kano state into a mess with bad decisions. Just earlier today after it was announced that there was no testing done in  Kano State yesterday because the State had run out of testing kits, announced that it had relaxed the lockdown order in the State so that residents could go out and shop for Ramadan.

In an interview with ChannelsTV, Ganduje said Kano could use that kind of money right now. Recall, that In March, President Buhari approved the release of N10billion to Lagos and N5billion to the NCDC in a bid to slow the spread of the virus in the country.

Gov Umar Ganduje Said; You can understand that Kano is the most populated state in the country hence the only testing centre at AKTH is not enough for us,”
He said the N15billion would come in handy in paying voluntary healthcare workers engaged by the state to support full-time health personnel, procure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and open up testing and isolation centres.

The Governor went further to clear the air about the mysterious mass death claims in the State, Ganduje denied anything of such, explaining that does reported deaths were of another ailment and not that caused by COVId-19

That information is not correct because we undertook some survey and investigation (about the initial report of 70 deaths). We found out that it was only 13 deaths in that place and we will soon get a complete report but I assure you that information is not correct,” Umar Ganduje said.
He added that “looking at previous reviews, there is nothing to show that there is unusual frequency of deaths.
“You know that there is a lot of fake news going around and we have already started arresting all those who are peddling such rumours.
“The death recorded from coronavirus is only one and the NCDC is aware of that.”
