10 Break Out Nigerian Artistes Of 2019

2019 is really a year of manifestations and great unleash as we got really thrilled by the various arm of the entertainment sector. From the celebrities babies’ season, great movies let out, to the release of dope and nice jams from our musicians and then the full sprouting and blooming of new acts to the world, not just to Nigeria.
Dwelling on the fast risen acts that gained huge recognition and attention this year, one can say it is a season of the boys and girl, Tems, and they really have been blessings to everyone who hears their song. From Fireboy DML‘s Jealous, Rema’s Iron Man to Joeboy’s Baby, the outpour has been hot and hit back to back.
There are many artistes of course that came to lime in 2019 but today, we are looking at the top 10. We serve you, in no particular order 10 Nigerian artistes that broke out this year
1. Rema: 19-year-old Divine Ikubor was signed to Mavin Records after he did a viral cover for D’Prince’s Gucci Gang instrumental, the song which features Don Jazzy and Davido. In March, he released his debut self-titled EP on Mavin which spent more than a month at No. 1 on Nigeria’s Apple Music charts. He even got a shout out from Barrack Obama who listed Iron as one of his top 100 songs during the summer holidays.2. Adedamola Adefolahan, a signee of YBNL record label has consistently released not just new but lovely and hit songs back to back, making sure his fans stay entertained. He had released Jealous in December 2018 and gained hit popularity this year under YBNL. While some people have described him as a great replacement for Adekunle Gold in YBNL, others think he is one of Olamide’s best investments in the year 2019. His album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps features Jealous, Omo Ologo, What If I Say and 10 more lovely songs.
4. Joeboy: Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, is another new kid on the block. His song, Baby grew amazingly fast on many Nigerians home and abroad and can be described as some sort of a national anthem in the love songs department. It smashed over 5 million views on YouTube and currently at the top of the charts. 5. Lyta: The former YBNL act Lawal Raheem” kick-started his music career with a beautiful song titled, Time featuring the YBNL boss himself Olamide. It was his first official single under the label and he released other hit songs including ‘Self Made,’ ‘Kpakujemu,” Ire’ (Adekunle Gold Cover) before exiting the label. The singer is currently working on the remix of the song with Davido.6. Zlatan: The Zanku crooner is one of the most listened to artistes at the moment. Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, an indigenous rapper is a force to reckon with in the hip hop world as he keeps reeling out dance steps and slangs to his songs. Zanku which was originated after the release of his ‘Zanku Anthem’ teaches his fans how to do the legwork while he served Gbe Body E, a slang which tells fans to stay woke, agile and move.

His introductory phrases Kapaichumarimarichopaco and Ayii are also part of the sensation he serves his fans with. Zlatan has made good impressions so far and he’s not slowing down this year, with songs like My Body, Zanku (Legwork), Oja, 4 Days In Ekohtiebo. He also featured on the breakout single, ‘Able God’ and featured DMW boss, Davido on his own single, ‘Osanle,’ ‘Am I a Yahoo Boy’ with Naira Marley, ‘Killin Dem’ featuring Burna Boy and ‘Shotan’ featuring Tiwa Savage.
7. Naira Marley: The soapy crooner seems to be Naira Marley’s twin brother and whoever is not really fervent about the industry ay take the two to be the same. Agege-born Azeez Fashola is described as one of the most influential Nigerian music stars. His rise to fame started in 2018 but gained massive recognition this year with his controversial songs Soapy and Am I A Yahoo Boy. 8. Blaqbonez: Emeka Akumefule, 23, is a rapper signed onto signed to 100 Crowns, a hip hop label imprint of Warner Music Group African partner, Chocolate City. He was profiled by The New York Times alongside Teni, Odunsi and 3 others as the new guards of Nigerian music. He is widely recently known for his controversial self-acclaimed status as the ‘Best Rapper in Africa’, which became the most talked about topic in the Nigerian hip hop space, between July and September this year. He has released 8 EPs and Mix tapes, and his most recent album, ‘Bad Boy Blaq’ was highlighted by Soundcity TV as Album of the Year, alongside Burna Boy’s YE and M.I Abaga’s Rendevouz.
9. Terri: The Starboy artiste came to limelight after his superb verse on the Wizkid’s Soco. Terri, who is related to another accomplished singer, Tekno, was signed by Wizkid after he shared a video of one of his recordings on Instagram, tagging the pop star and has blown since then. He dropped a groovy single titled On Me, a follow-up to ‘Shuu’ and his singles have enjoyed relative mainstream success. He is constantly flaunted as the next big thing by Wizkid.Tems: Tems is a superb singer and upcoming producer who is single-handedly redefining the Nigerian music scene one musical note at a time. Bringing an urban sound that is undeniably unique and embodying a fusion of alternative RnB and Neo soul genres, 23-year old Temilade Openiyi is under no record label yet and he is this blown. Now, that’s a superb singer!
