Five Arraigned For Threatening Lady’s Life In Ondo

Five persons have appeared before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government of Ondo State for allegedly threatening a lady.

The accused persons were alleged to have threatened to attack and kill one Caroline Abiodun, with dangerous weapons.

The defendants, Bolawa Akinbobola, 68, Chief Solomon Akinrinola, 58, Jimoh Akinboyewa, 63, Sunday Akinlosotu, 63, and Clement Olawoye, 61, were arraigned on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and threatening of life as well as assault.

The suspects were said to have committed that crime in October 2022 after allegedly damaging an erected fence in the town.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Akao Moremi, the defendants, “on October 17, 2022, between 9 am and 12 pm at Road 16, AdeSuper, Lisa Akinrinlade quarter, conspired to commit the crimes.”

Sections 516, 457, 86, 351, and 451 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006 were said to have been violated by the offenders.

The defendants entered a plea of not guilty as their attorney, S.O. Okewoye, petitioned for bail on their behalf, promising to offer trustworthy sureties.

Accordingly, the defendants were each granted bail in the amount of N500,000 with one suitable surety by the Chief Magistrate, Mosunmola Ikujuni.

The sureties, according to her, must live in the jurisdiction.
