Elections 2023: Orji Kalu Wins Senate Seat

The Chief Whip of the Senate and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Abia North Senatorial district election, Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu, has been declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to the Nation’s Electoral umpire, the former Governor polled a total of 30,805 votes to defeat his closet rival, Nnamdi Iroh of the Labour Party, who polled 25,540 votes, while Chief Mao Ohuabunwa of the Peoples Democratic Party got 15, 175 votes

The returning officer for Abia-North, Mr Chinedu Nnamdi, declared Kalu, the winner having polled the highest number of valid votes cast.

Obi polled a total 428,640 votes to defeat other contenders, with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his counterpart Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress scoring 15,749 and 4772 votes, to a distant second and third respectively. The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, polled a total of 1,808 to record the fifth position.

The collation officer of presidential election in Enugu State and Vice Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe, declared the results of the election.
