Crystal Palace Fires Vieira As Club Manager

The English football club, Crystal Palace sacked its manager, Patrick Vieira on Friday following the club’s poor performance.

Vieira had spent 18 months steering the affairs of the club before his dismissal. Crystal under his leadership has not secured a winning in any of their last 12 games in all competitions. The last time the club registered a win was against Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve 2022.

Also, the club is currently tilting towards relegation in the Premier League table after dropping three points below.

In their last match, Vieira’s side recorded a 1-0 loss to rivals Brighton, this would be the fourth successive game in which Crystal Palace has failed to make the net.

Speaking on the sudden dismissal, the club’s chairman, Steve Parish mentioned that though letting Vieira go was very difficult to make, the club had no choice.

“It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made. Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.

“That said, Patrick’s impact since joining us in the summer of 2021 has been significant, and he is held in the highest regard by myself, and all of his colleagues. Patrick has given his all to the club, and we all thank him and his team for their service.”

The club also confirmed that three other members of Vieira’s coaching staff Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson, and Saïd Aïgoun, have also left the club.

The club however maintained that while it fishes for a new manager, Dean Kiely will hold the forte and remain as the team’s goalkeeping coach.
