The Katsina State government today ordered the lockdown of the Ingawa local government area of the state. The secretary to the state government Inuwa disclosed that Governor Aminu Masari imposed the lockdown in the local government over increased cases of the coronavirus.
The lockdown will be effective from 7:00 am on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Inuwa urged residents of the area to stay at home as security agents would be deployed to ensure total compliance in order to curtail the spread of virus in the state.He also disclosed that the Governor has directed the COVID-19 committee to identify and earmark some pharmaceuticals, grains and essential commodity stores in the local government that would be allowed to offer skeletal services to the needy.
Katsina government has already closed the state’s borders with Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa including the Niger Republic. Out of the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, 12 LGAs, Daura, Dutsinma, Katsina, Mani, Safana, Kankia, Matazu, Musawa, Jibia, Batagarawa, Malumfashi and Ingawa are currently under lockdown.
