Universal has shifted the proposed release date for the currently untitled Fast and Furious 9 from April 2019 to April 2020. A 2019 release date had earlier been circulated when Vin Diesel announced the dates for the eighth, ninth and tenth parts in an Instagram post in 2016. Even though it’s a year later, that will once again put the movie at the Easter weekend. 
Universal has not offered a reason for the shift, though the film doesn’t yet have a director on board. In fact, there are no concrete details about the movie itself or what will happen in it, besides the now standard vehicular madness and lots of talk about family. Not only that, but a 10th movie (Fast and Furious 10), which is meant to be the final, will follow on April 2, 2021. And while the wait for part 9 continues, the Fast and Furious family will be holding a live tour in 2018.
