Make We Drop Aza? CBN Recovers 89.2bn Bank Charges Slammed On Nigerians

Nigeria’s apex and government bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria has said it has recovered the whooping sum of 89.2 billion naira as illegal and excess bank charges slammed on Nigerians by the commercial banks.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, said this at a 2-day public enlightenment fair in Calabar, as ably represented by the Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Osita Nwanisobi, stating also that Nigeria’s financial system is sound, resilient and stable contrary to rumors in unnamed quarters.CBNAccording to the Govenor, the amount which was recorded as at June 2021 was based on 23,526 complaints the pax bank received from customers bordering on charges and other related matters. He added that the insinuations that the Apex bank was planning to convert domiciliary/ dollar accounts to naira were false and unfounded.
