Cardi B: I Struggled With Postpartum Depression After My Baby’s Birth

New York rapper, Cardi B, has revealed in a new interview that she struggled with depression following the birth of her daughter Kulture. She said: “I thought I was going to avoid it. When I gave birth, the doctor told me about postpartum, and I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing good right now, I don’t think that’s going to happen.’ But out of nowhere, the world was heavy on my shoulders.” The five-time Grammy-nominee talked about a whirlwind couple of years which saw her married and separated from Migos rapper Offset, give birth to Kulture and basically smash all sorts of chart records on the way.Offset famously interrupted one of her live shows with a very public PDA, which did not go down well with the Bodak Yellow rapper. Asked Cardi if any friends of family had helped with her decision to split from her husband. “No, I decided on my own,” she said, adding, “Nobody makes my decisions about my life but me. I didn’t want to go to marriage counselling. He suggested it, but it’s like, ‘I don’t want to go.’ There’s no counsellor or nothing that could make me change my mind.”Photo Credit: Getty
